The paper explores the possibilities of utilization of politico-mythological constructions of mass consciounsness for solving varions problems of the politological analysis of state and social development. Politicomythological premises oi coming to and remaining in power of the political elite are considered. A conclusion was drawn that the usage of historico-political myths to assess the internal machinery of power enables contradictions in the political life to be explained, otherwise unexplainable.
