Political Protest: Theoretical and Methodological Approaches and Interpretations

The relevance of the study is due to the activation of protest moods in modern Russia, which in case of untimely reaction on the part of the authorities can take an unpredictable, destructive nature. The article is devoted to the study of different approaches in the interpretation of the concept of «protest voting», the analysis of protest voting as a form of manifestation of political protest, the definition of its universal characteristics.

Party and Ideological Context of Changes of the Constitution of the Russian Federation

The article considers party and ideological context of the way the Russian Constitution and its possible changes are perceived. Based on the analysis of stances of the leading political parties’ leaders, representing ideological segments of modern Russia, an inference is made that majority of them seek to gain political and image advantage from the discussion of the President’s bill. Flawing from these intentions, a forecast is substantiated that the bill will be supported in State Duma by not only “United Russia”, but by Liberal and Democratic Party of Russia and “Fair Russia” as well.

“Value” as a Prerequisite to the Quality of Modern Political Science Research (Part Two)

The article is the second part (a continuation) of the research aimed at defining reasons of heightened interest of Russian academia to using the notion “value of a study” as a tool of evaluation the quality of scholarly product. In this part, the author analyzes hindrances caused by demands to experts to specify what exactly makes a new, topical, theoretically and practically significant research “valuable” in terms of world and domestic science.

Political Resource Potential of Regional Mass Media in Modern Russia (Exemplified by State Tele- and Radio Company “Saratov”)

The article contains results of regional media landscape analysis conducted through the lens of political resource potential of mass media in modern Russia. Having defined the key elements of political resource potential, the authors assess ability of the State tele- and radio company “Saratov” to affect regional political process. An inference is made that, compared with non-governmental mass media, media outlets comprising the aforementioned holding company, as a rule, have greater potential for political influence.

Modern Information Technologies Boosting National Interests of Russia in the Sphere of International Relations

The main problem tackled in this research deals with information technologies as the instrument of boosting national interests of Russia. The author comes to the conclusion that the information society shows the other side and the subject deals with not only mutual interests in the name of world development, but modification of the international relations on the base of the modern information technologies.

Game Technologies of Formation of Political Culture: Structural and Functional Analysis of Youth Organizations’ Activities (Examplified by Youth Brahch of the Russian Society of Political Scientists of the Saratov Region)

The article deals with the main functional characteristics of game technologies for the formation of political culture of Russian youth. The paper analyzes the use of game models in the activities of youth organizations on the example of the Youth branch of The Russian society of political scientists of the Saratov region.

Energy Aspect of Modern Russian Foreign Policy in the Middle East

The paper examines events that not only changed the energy and geopolitical picture of the Middle East, but also led to the fact that Russia became the unconditional beneficiary of all these changes. The causes and factors of the appearance of Russia in this region as one of the key political players in the modern world are considered. The focus of the study is the energy and the foreign policy context behind it of Russian actions in the Middle East. The author offers a new research perspective – to consider in close connection the politization of energy projects and regional egoisms.

Civilizational Political Project: Between Civilization Theory and Project Approach

There are many approaches to analyzing global politics within modern scholarship including ideal theoretical models of analysis and empirical approaches. Nevertheless, theoretical and empirical approaches do not allow scholars to interpret some political changes in modern world. Modern politics is in need of a new analytical approach that would combine civilization theory and project approach. The analysis of the value bases of large-scale political projects made us conclude that they are mainly of civilizational character.

Images of the Future within Political Science and Public Discourses of Modern Russia

The article is about the images of Russia’s future presented within scholarly and public discourses in post-Soviet Russia. Based on the analysis of certain projects and scholarly publications, the author concludes that formation of positive image of Russia’s future within public conscience is a matter of competitiveness of the variant promoted by ruling party and ideological variant of the “left” future. Current fragmentation of the “left” segment of party system does not allow relying on its victory on the nearest elections.

Traditional and Normative Bases of the State’s Political Functionality in Modern Russia

The article considers traditional and normative bases of providing the balance between the state’s political functionality and civil society in post-soviet Russia. Exemplified by one of the most important articles of the Russian Constitution, possibility of different interpretation of the social state’s functionality and civil society potential for public problem solving in contemporary Russia is shown.
