In article on material of social and demographic researches of the second half of the XIX century and author’s sociological researches at a boundary of XXI the comparative analysis of structural features, functions and social perception of the matrimonial unions, unequal on age, is carried out, conceptual regulations on a social role of mismatches are offered.
