This article considers the current problems of development and innovation activities in the Russian Federation and the need to transfer the Russian manufacturing sector to modern high-tech rails. However, despite the fact that the country's top leadership emphasizes the course of innovative development as having no alternative, the relevant ministries, large state and non-state corporations, hinder implementation activities or imitate them still play an important role.

The article analyzes theoretical and methodological foundations of intergenerational communication in the social space. The ethnographic, historical-cultural, socio-demographic, sociological approaches to the study of generations are considered. The author’s definitions of the notions «generation», «generation space», are suggested and the process of hybridization space generation formation is analyzed.

The article reveals the understanding of space and the state border as a national value of Russia. As a result of historical development, due to the presence of a constant threat to the country and the resource mobilization for its protection, the citizens of Russia have formed a sustainable defense consciousness and understanding of the border as a sacred value. The article raises the question of further understanding of the problem.
